‘Yes, I can hear you Clem Fandango…’
With these immortal words, a legend was born. The surreal travails of Steven Toast – actor extraordinaire and all round tosspot – was an instant cult hit thanks to the shining charisma and surreal syntax of star Matt Berry, a stellar supporting cast that included Doon Mackichan and a behind-the-scenes team who had worked on numerous British comedy classics.
Director Michael Cumming (Brass Eye, Snuff Box) and writer Arthur Matthews (Father Ted, Big Train) have chosen two of their very favourite episodes for this special screening, and will be chatting in between about all things Toast, including the show’s genesis for Channel 4 and its eventual transformation into Toast Of Tinseltown for the BBC.
