Wendy? Darling? Light of my life?...I'm not gonna hurt ya. I'm just gonna bash your brains in.

Jack Torrance - The Shining

Flatpack Festival: Mid-length Films: Homebodies + Q&A

90 mins | rated 15

What does it mean to actually belong somewhere?

Homebodies brings together two films that aim to answer this question from two very different perspectives. Firstly, in Neighbour Abdi we investigate what might bring someone from Somalia to the Netherlands, and the kind of life that can be built in a new home. Then Mirrors looks at what it means to be from Britain and, using footage from the length and breadth of the nation, reflects the multitude of things that ‘Britishness’ implies. When taken together, these films explore the difference between simply living somewhere, and feeling that you truly belong.
