Our own personal search for meaning can take us to some pretty interesting places. For some, it’s out to the sea, into the woods or up a mountain. But for one excommunicated Buddhist monk, it’s in the mosh pit at a Slayer gig and at the bottom of an ice cream sundae!
Filming over 5 years and across 3 continents, director Ahsen Nadeem, who is also struggling with his own faith, forges an unlikely friendship with the monk. Together, they explore their place in the universe, whether or not their desires can coexist with their beliefs and how to get out of trouble once they’re in it.
Crows are White marks Nadeem’s first documentary feature film and was the winner of the Documentaire Extraordinaire at Bergen International Film Festival 2022.
