Flatpack Festival: A Cat Called Dom + Q&A

75 mins | rated 15

Scottish animators Will Anderson and Ainslie Henderson direct and co-star in this moving documentary where Will attempts to stitch together the fragmented pieces of a fiction film he tried to make for his mother.

Over a five-year period, Will documents his mother’s cancer as a kind of coping mechanism but the project hits a brick wall, leaving Will feeling like the only way to get closure is to release the failed film, just to get it out there.

This whole process is shared with Dom, the animated cat who occupies Will’s laptop screen and becomes the embodiment of the cancer. Winner of the Best Feature Film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2022, we’re expecting a tear or ten for this one.

Presented in partnership with Overlap.
